What is SCINTIX THERAPY?

SCINTIX therapy is the only cancer treatment that uses signals produced by your tumor to direct radiation with precision. Cleared by the FDA to treat tumors in the lung or bone, SCINTIX therapy is a breakthrough form of radiation therapy. These tumors can arise from primary or metastatic cancers.

Susanne Kluh, a fifty-seven-year-old, was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer that had metastasized to her back and neck. She turned to City of Hope research center in Los Angeles, refusing to take her first doctor's diagnosis that the tumors in her spine and lung were a death sentence. "You have to gather your strength and get second opinions and find the people that can provide you with the right treatment to give your life a chance," Susanne told Scripps. Today, the tumors causing her spine pain are no longer an issue. She credits a breakthrough radioactive tumor-tracing technology, called SCINTIX therapy.

BENEFITS OF SCINTIX THERAPY

Precisely delivers treatment to the tumor to potentially reduce the side effects from radiation.

For patients with metastatic disease, SCINTIX therapy can work alongside chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted drugs.

Delivered in five or fewer fractions which means fewer trips to the treatment center and less disruption to your schedule.

A non-invasive procedure that enables you to quickly resume normal activities - even right after treatment.

CLINICAL EVIDENCE

For many patients, the best treatment isn’t a one-size-fits all plan, but a combination of therapies. Clinicians will often prescribe radiation therapy in combination with chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted drugs to try to improve patient outcomes. Recent studies demonstrate that when radiation therapy is combined with drug therapies, there is an increase in overall survival for patients with certain cancers. Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of FAQs to help you learn more about SCINTIX therapy treatment and benefits.

SCINTIX therapy is a new form of radiation treatment for cancer. It can be used alone, or in combination with chemotherapy or other targeted drugs to treat early and late-stage disease.

SCINTIX therapy is cleared by the FDA to treat patients with lung or bone tumors – these can arise from primary or metastatic disease.

SCINTIX therapy uses live signals from the tumor itself to direct the radiation treatment. With SCINTIX technology, the machine and the tumor communicate via a live stream of data produced from the patient during treatment.

On the day of treatment, you will receive a intravenous radiotracer injection, and wait for a period of time while the radiotracer accumulates in the cancer cells. As it accumulates, signals, or emissions, are generated from the cancer cells. SCINTIX therapy then collects these signals and uses them to direct the radiation treatment.

No surgery is required. SCINTIX therapy is a highly precise, non-invasive treatment. In general, patients are treated and can then resume normal activities.

SCINTIX therapy is delivered in five or fewer treatment sessions, generally delivered over one to two weeks.

The machine that delivers SCINTIX therapy also delivers stereotactic body radiation (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). It is capable of delivering both SCINTIX therapy and SBRT in a single treatment session.
